raised on 1 April 1938 in Salzburg.
In Poland in September 1939, the Korps was the southern flank Korps in the attack. It advanced from Slovakia towards
Lwow. This city surrendered on 21 September. The Korps stayed in Poland till the 2nd half of October 1939, then it was transferred west, to the
Eifel.
In May 1940, the Korps advanced through northern Luxemburg. It then followed the Panzer Divisions and took up a flanking cover northwest of
Reims. In the second stage of the campaign, the Korps advanced from the
Aisne, passed east of Paris and headed south for the Loire between Orleans and Nevers and further to the demarcation-line. It stayed in central- and later eastern France till end October 1940. |

XIX Armeekorps
was redesignated Panzergruppe
Guderian June 1940 and was reformed later the same month. It
was upgraded to Panzergruppe
2 Nov 1940. Renamed from Gebirgskorps Norwegen on 10 November 1942 west of Murmansk.
The Korps stayed in its line. It had to endure regularly heavy attacks by the Russians, but held for another 2 years. Finally, from 4 October 1944 the Korps had to give up its line and had to retreat to northern Norway. This retreat ended after giving up Kirkenes. The Korps stayed in Norway till the end of the war, also known as Armee Abteilung Narvik from
25 November 1944 onwards.
Surrendered on 8 May 1945 in Norway. |
